"My dad never told me that when you audition, you might not get the role. He wanted to wait until my first disappointment to tell me."

"I would be a terrible person to be in a relationship with because I'm either sleeping or at the theater."

"The best advice my dad ever gave me is that acting is believing. Acting is not acting. It isn't putting on a face and dancing around in a mask. It's believing that you are that character and playing him as if it were a normal day in the life of that character."

"Just keep learning from the role and not just go for the money."

"Life is hard. After all, it kills you."

"I am really drawn to damaged characters, and I have a lot of sympathy for them. Making those complicated characters empathetic is something to strive for. It's too easy to create a good guy or a good girl."

"To me, what I love about the draft is first, you see the young men who are realizing their dreams that they've worked so hard for. That's a pretty cool thing. You saw the emotion from some of these guys the other day. And then, the second thing is this total sense of hope and optimism. And, I think that's great for everybody."

"I think most art comes out of poverty and hard times."
